In its annual Global Leadership Gala last Thursday, the John C. Whitehead School of Diplomacy honored J. Michael Pearson as the school’s Global Citizen of the Year. The school said it prides itself in providing the next generation of global leaders with the education and tools they need to be successful in the international community, and Pearson proved to be a shining example of this success and leadership.
Pearson is the director and office manager of McKinsey & Company, serving on countless civic boards and working daily to address the complex issues of the global healthcare market.
“Michael embodies the very principles and ideals of a global citizen,” Clay Constantinou, dean of the School of Diplomacy, said. “Throughout his life, he has demonstrated the kind of leadership and values we strive to instill in our students.”
Pearson praised the efforts and merits of the diplomacy school, for which he has served on the Board of Overseers.
Pearson sits among good company. Past Global Citizens include Kofi Annan, United Nations Secretary-General, and Fred Hassan, chairman and chief executive officer of Schering-Plough.
