Omer Gokcekus, Ph.D., associate professor of international economics and development, published an article titled “Gender and Corruption in the Public Sector” in Transparency International’s Global Corruption Report 2004. The article, co-written by Ranjana Mukherjee, coordinator of the Administrative and Civil Service Reform Thematic Group for The World Bank Group, addresses whether corruption in public sector organizations is linked to the percentage of women employees.
Richard J. Hunter Jr., J.D., professor of legal studies in the Stillman School of Business, will have his article titled “An ‘Insider’s Guide’ to the Legal Liability of Sports Contest Officials” published in the Spring 2005 issue of Marquette Sports Law Review. Two articles co-written by Hunter and Brother Leo V. Ryan, C.S.V., of De Paul University, also were recently published. “Privatization and Transformation in Poland: An Update” appeared in the third issue of Volume 49 of The Polish Review, an English-language scholarly journal devoted to Polish topics. “An Update on the Polish Economy” appeared in the first issue of Volume 25 of Sarmatian Review.
Three Stillman School of Business faculty presented papers at the 12th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Business and Behavioral Sciences in Las Vegas in February. Richard J. Hunter Jr., J.D., professor of legal studies, presented the paper titled “A Transitional Analysis of the Polish Economy.” Gary Kritz, Ph.D., assistant professor of marketing, presented the paper titled “Foodie Websites: Consumption Values and Habits of a Dedicated Group,” which he co-wrote with Héctor R. Lozada, Ph.D., associate professor of marketing, and Mary Long, Ph.D., of Pace University. Lozada presented a paper titled “Marketing a Country: A Content Analysis of Web Presence,” which was co-written with Kritz.
James B. Johnston ’82/M.A. ’89/J.D. ’96, adjunct professor of law at the Seton Hall University School of Law, was promoted to the position of lieutenant within the investigative staff at the Essex County Prosecutor's Office in Newark.
Gary Kritz, Ph.D., assistant professor of marketing, published an article titled “The Antecedents of Product Trial: An Initial Investigation of a Product Trial Model” in the Spring 2005 issue of the Journal of Business and Behavioral Sciences. Kritz’s article titled “Teaching Cohort Analysis: An Important Marketing Management Tool,” co-written with Paul Arsenault, Ph.D., of West Chester University, will appear in a 2006 issue of Marketing Education Review.
Lewis Z. Schlosser, Ph.D., assistant professor of counseling psychology, recently had two articles, which he co-wrote with colleagues, accepted for publication on the topic of faculty-student relationships. The first article, “The Advisory Working Alliance Inventory – Advisor Version: Scale Development and Validation,” will appear in an upcoming issue of the Journal of Counseling Psychology. The second, “A Qualitative Study of the Graduate Advising Relationship: The Advisor Perspective,” will appear in an upcoming issue of The Counseling Psychologist.
An article co-authored by Xiaoqing Eleanor Xu, Ph.D., associate professor of finance, and Hung-Gay Fung, Ph.D., of the University of Missouri-St. Louis, titled “What Moves the Mortgage-backed Securities Market?” will appear in the June 2005 issue of Real Estate Economics. Xu’s article titled “Performance of Securities Investment Funds in China” will appear in a 2005 issue of Emerging Markets Finance and Trade. Another article authored by Xu, “A Comparative Study of Venture Capital Performance in U.S. and Europe,” was published in the December 2004 issue of the Journal of Entrepreneurial Finance and Business Ventures.
